In the technological reality, we all view events from a distance and this distance is obscuring the true sense of what is going on. The author seems to feel that the barrier technology has created between us and real events has caused us to engage with the events to a lesser degree and thus we have become less reflective about and less proactive in shaping our world.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"49145161","dateCreated":"1326464843","smartDate":"Jan 13, 2012","userCreated":{"username":"sethfry","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/sethfry","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/warde-wiki-workshop-january19-group3.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/49145161"},"dateDigested":1532253496,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"3650 days","description":"The main or central idea of the aritcle is that there is often great change in a decade and this past decade had much change because of advances in technology. Also, while there are numerous events that take place over any ten year period that seem, at the time, to be of huge consequence, many turn out to not be. As I read the examples of events of the previous decade given, I remembered some of them as being big news at the time. Most had very little staying power in the news as the next thing that came along quickly and replaced the previous. Of course there were several significant things that did happen in the last, or likely any other ten-year period, that did have a lasting impact on society. Those things will be remembered in the history books and discussed for years to come.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"49144809","dateCreated":"1326464530","smartDate":"Jan 13, 2012","userCreated":{"username":"rterwilliger","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/rterwilliger","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1326289221\/rterwilliger-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/warde-wiki-workshop-january19-group3.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/49144809"},"dateDigested":1532253496,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Article Response by me","description":"My Response to the Technology Article
\nBy Robin Terwilliger
\n
\nAfter reading the article, I had to stop and think about the technology I use in my everyday life. I can related this article to important event and activities in my life like my daughter, Saylor\u2019s, 5th birthday party.
\nWe are using a lot of technology to get ready for Saylor\u2019s birthday day party this weekend. Starting with the cake we ordered. A specially designed cake maker will design her cake to look like an enchanted garden. Cinderella, Ariel, and Bell will be sitting on a bench in the beautiful castle garden. Years ago this cake would have cost $1,000. Due to technology and the ability to mass produce designed cakes, it on cost me $19.95 at Costco.
\n According to the Mayan calendar, we are all going to die on the scheduled day of December 21, 2012. I feel it is probably not true, but just in case I would like to make the party extra special. With this in mind, I have rented out a dance studio to have the \u201cPrincess Dance Party.\u201d Again, using updated technology, I created pink ballerina tutu invitations and sent the via email or through the regular post office.
\n Saylor wanted many toys for her birthday. One important toy she received was the Beauty and the Beast life size Bell. This doll can talk and interact with the children as if she was a regular person. That is defiantly and improvement in technology. The children are no longer playing with rag dolls, but no interactive toys.
\n Saylor also asked for driving lessons. Although 5 years old is a little young for a child to start driving, I am sure in the years to come they will be creating vehicles for her young age.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]}],"more":false},"comments":[]},"http":{"code":200,"status":"OK"},"redirectUrl":null,"javascript":null,"notices":{"warning":[],"error":[],"info":[],"success":[]}}
